3 Things During Corona

GOD IS STILL ON HIS THRONE
Chances are you’ve felt like the whole world is falling apart.  God is still good and God is still on his throne.  Perhaps he is giving his people a platform to serve and love the world instead of cower in fear, without hope, like our non-believing neighbors.  God has given us a spirit of power, not a spirit of fear and timidity.  The gospel runs in when everyone else runs out.  Don’t buy into the hysteria and fear-mongering!

THE GOSPEL CALL HASN’T CHANGED
It is times like these where the gospel has spread the quickest.  World-wide panic and fear?  The peace of the gospel is the cure.  Isolation and broken relationships?  The family of God leans in.  Corona Virus may have forced us into social distancing, but social distancing DOES NOT mean relational distancing.  Pick up the phone and call.  FaceTime, Google Hangout, Zoom call.  Find ways to stay connected and feed each others souls.  What could God do if his people who are called by his name begin to reach out to their neighbors and families?  The people around you are the people who God has put in your life for a reason!

SOCIAL MEDIA NEWS IS NOT YOUR FRIEND
You know your crazy Uncle Bill who is always posting conspiracy theories?  There is something about global crisis that brings out all the crazies. Chances are he is still posting stuff about aliens…. and the Corona Virus.  The problem is that all your reliable news and your crazy conspiracy theories use the same social media platforms.  Find reliable sources for what is happening.  The Center for Disease Control and the World Health Organization are trained, specialized professionals.  Trust what they are saying, not bias media outlets.

2 Timothy 2:2 - What you heard from me [Paul] in the presence of others pass on to faithful men who in turn can teach others. I love this verse! Part 2: Developing Your Ministry's Heart to Start Work on New Campuses

This is part two.  If you missed the first post, you can read Part 1 HERE Eager to begin the sending process we cast vision for one of our graduates to go help with work in the Northwest.  This was our first one - our first fruit! We commissioned him and sent him off with high hopes.  In retrospect, we rushed the process and ignored some red flags. Within a year they were overwhelmed and depressed which led to some drastic moral failure which to this day they are still walking in. We blew it.  I blew it. I was so ready to send that I cut corners and rushed the process, the casualty rate was high. Creating an Evangelism Culture

A few weeks ago I stood in front of our students at our weekly evangelism training meeting and told them I was the worst evangelist in the room.  They laughed, but I was being serious.  I turn green with jealousy when I meet people with the gift of evangelism.  You know the people I’m talking about.  You go to the grocery store with them to pick up one thing and they are like, “let’s get hot sauce and a soul!” You can’t take them anywhere without someone hearing the gospel!  That just isn’t me.  But just because I don’t have the “gift of evangelism” doesn’t mean I’m exempt from sharing the gospel.  If I’m gut-wrenchingly honest, though, when I came to my campus five years ago I was worried about my lack of experience and ability in sharing the gospel.  I wanted to lead a ministry that was unapologetically evangelistic, but we weren’t.
